Current project

Text-Image constellations in Alexander Kluge’s literary works from the perspective of a reception-oriented economy of attention

The project’s primary interest is to develop a new approach towards Alexander Kluge’s literary works, which combines the existing research of media and literary scholars. The main object of investigation will be the different forms of text-image constellations used in Kluge’s stories about historical events. These constellations will be analyzed, classified and interpreted from a newly synthesized approach grounded in Kluge’s theoretical and literary works, in order to embed his writings in contemporary questions of media theory. This approach focuses on the economies of attention in seeing, reading and understanding history through text and images. The project seeks to examine Klugean text-image constellations as strategies of writing in an ever-changing media environment.
