Critique of sublimation in John Miller’s work 1981-1994

The project focuses on the early work of New York- and Berlin-based artist John Miller. While Miller’s work has been regularly received against the backdrop of the historical framework of Abject Art, the dissertation reads it more closely in terms of its allegorical and temporal qualities. The study aims at a broader comprehension of Miller’s critique of sublimation within the artistic and theoretical discourse of postmodernism.
